Tuition and costs for summer programs

Tuition for the summer programs at The American University of Paris is calculated on a per-credit basis. When it comes to taking classes, you have two options:Ìę

  1. Participate for academic credits: You can choose to participate in any of our summer programs for university credit, and you will receive a grade and a transcript for the class to transfer back to your home institution.
  2. Participate as an ‘auditor’: Auditors attend the same classes as those who are taking class for credits, but do not receive any official academic credit. The grading of exams, term papers, etc., for auditors is left to the discretion of the instructor.

The price of tuition differs for those taking classes for credits, and those taking classes as auditors. You can see an outline of the 2026 summer tuition fees below:

Summer Financial Aid Information:

The American University of Paris does not offer any financial aid to visiting students for the summer.

Non-AUP students (with U.S. nationality or U.S. permanent residency) who are degree-seeking at institutions that can certify and administer U.S. federal loans may be able to use them for AUP's summer program. You will need to contact the Financial Aid Office at your home institution in order to determine your eligibility for federal student aid. If needed, the AUP Financial Aid Office can complete a consortium agreement, but it must originate from your home institution.Ìę

U.S. citizens and permanent residents who qualify may apply for a privateÌęÌęfor all legitimate educational and living expenses during a summer program at AUP. This option also applies to non-degree seeking students. Please note that federal regulations prohibit AUP from administering U.S. federal loans (Subsidized or Unsubsidized Stafford or PLUS loans) for any student not working toward an AUP degree during the AUP summer program.

Current AUP students who are receiving an institutional financial award are eligible to receive this award for summer classes. The amount of the award will be adjusted (pro-rated) depending on the number of registered credits that the student is carrying.

As a U.S. student, you can continue to receive your U.S. loans as long as you are carrying a minimum 6-credit course load during the summer semester.

FAQ

Can I use my VA funds for summer classes?

The VA pays for degree-required classes, which typically excludes classes taken as a summer visitor. However, we can make an exception if the following three conditions are met:

  • The classes are for degree credit.
  • The student provides official written approval from their home school confirming the classes count towards their degree.
  • The student has sufficient remaining VA benefit eligibility for the summer term.

If these conditions are satisfied, we can proceed to evaluate if the use of VA funding is possible.
